Our Warm, Attentive Staff Puts Residents' Needs First.

Bridgeview Health Care Center offers loving care in a warm and homelike environment. This is our residents' home, and we encourage everyone to look at it that way. It's often the little things that make the difference, such as encouraging families and residents to personalize their rooms with familiar belongs-from furniture to photographs-so they feel more comfortable and at home.

A key to Bridgeview's success is staff longevity and commitment.

Administrator Martha Peck has been serving the residents of Bridgeview for more than 17 years, enabling us to be much more than a typical nursing home or rehabilitation center. "Ours is a very homey kind of place," she says. "We have a lot of long term employees and a lot of families who are very involved in visiting and being around the facility. That ends up making us very family-oriented."

Many of our staff have grown up at Bridgeview. Our director of nursing has been on staff for 30 years, the assistant director of nursing 14 years. We also have aides and unit nurses who have been caring for residents for 10 to 25 years. Our residents enjoy seeing the same faces, and they appreciate the continuity of care. It's like one big family; we are all very close.

With more than 50 activities each month, residents stay active and engaged. Our Director of Activities and her team of aides are very involved with each of the residents. They plan and carry out many wonderful activities every day and well into the evening. Our goal is to keep the residents motivated and active; there is always something for everyone.

"We have an active Residents Council where we get feedback on the kinds of activities they would enjoy," Martha says. Additionally, the activities programs take advantage of all that Chicago has to offer. A special needs-equipped facilities van chauffeurs residents shopping, to restaurants, sporting events, museums, Lincoln Park Zoo, and various community events.

"It's the simple things that make people happy," Martha says, "like remembering that a resident has a certain lotion he likes, or styling a resident's hair a special way, or putting together an outfit for an outing. Often it's just spending time listening."
