Our Facility
We’re very proud of the physical beauty of our nursing home. A popular gathering place for our residents is our spacious dining room which was added to the nursing home in 1991. We have a large screen television, piano, and library facilities available as well as a unique bird aviary which was provided to the nursing home through memorial funds and the Women’s Auxiliary. A fenced mini-park, complete with a gazebo, is located just outside the dining room. Completely wheelchair accessible, the park provides a wonderful area for outdoor activities. Also available on the premises for residents is a recently remodeled beauty shop. The Hancock County Nursing Home has a computer area with easy access for resident use. Assistance is provided to residents in sending e-mail messages and pictures to family and friends. It's a fun new way for residents to stay in touch with loved ones. Residents learn with assistance from staff to use the mouse and one way of practicing this is by playing solitaire. Other computer games are available. If you would like to e-mail a friend or relative at the facility, please use the following address: hcnhres@hcnhtlc.org

Reimbursement Management
We accept private pay and Medicaid reimbursement. We ask for payment one month in advance and you will be billed on a monthly basis. If you receive Medicaid you will be notified by Medicaid what portion of the bill is your responsibility. If discharge occurs, refunds are given for any days not used. For those who carry Long Term Insurance we do not accept assignment, but will assist you in filing for your insurance benefits.

Free insurance verification and filing is available for all nursing home residents. Nursing home insurance varies greatly from carrier to carrier, and we strongly recommend a thorough review of all policies prior to a resident’s admission. Although we do not participate in the Medicare program, many of the Medicare supplemental insurance programs will still cover care provided in our facility because we are licensed by the State of Illinois.

Activity Program

Meeting the needs of each resident is the primary goal of the activity program. Designed to provide a wide range of therapeutic activities, our program focuses on all areas of a person’s well being, including their physical, mental, and psychosocial needs. A wide variety of both individual and group activities are offered: including games, crafts, baking, religious programs, exercises, family picnics and potlucks, ice cream socials, pizza parties, and seasonal and holiday activities. We encourage residents to attend any and all activities that are of interest to them. In addition, family and friends are encouraged to participate in scheduled activities with the residents. Bedside programs are provided for those residents who are not able to come to the activity area. Hancock County Nursing Home has a handicapped accessible bus with a wheelchair lift available for scenic drives through the country.

Rehabilitation Services
Three levels of Rehabilitation/Restorative Care is offered, focusing on restoring or compensating for skills lost through disease or changes in physiology.

Level I – Formalized therapies, Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, and Speech Therapy offered by therapist when certain criteria are met.

Level II – Restorative care for those who have had formal therapy and have shown progress and continue to have rehab potential. This level is supervised by the Therapist, a Rehabilitation Nurse and performed by a full time Rehabilitation aide.
