Sunrise Manor is located in Virden, Illinois, just south of the metropolitan Springfield area. We are nestled on the edge of town with a field behind us and that “at home” country feeling inside.

We are Medicare/Medicaid-certified. Our ninety-nine bed skilled/intermediate care facility opened its doors to the public on July 20, 1970. Our twenty-four hour professional team is committed to caring for the whole person. We attend to physical, mental, social and spiritual needs of each individual who lives with us. Our staff not only provides the professional care but also a lot of that good ole’ T.L.C. that everyone deserves.

At Sunrise, your family becomes our family. It’s no accident that our staff thinks of our residents as extended family. That’s the way we want it. Our team is local and is committed to quality care and to creating a place where all can feel like they belong. Whether for a short stay to rehabilitate or recuperate or to stay with us on a more permanent basis, you will always be welcomed at Sunrise Manor.

We are very proud of the fact that Sunrise Manor has had two deficiency free surveys in 2006 and 2007. Our residents receive the very best of care; our slogan says it all… Sunrise Manor “Because We Care”!

Our philosophy is to provide the highest quality of life with the greatest level of independence possible for each resident in surroundings of graciousness and dignity.

Our Administrator

Patricia Barnes, LNHA, lives locally and has devoted 30 years to Sunrise Manor and its residents.

“I have made a lot of friends over these past years, from residents who have joined our family here at Sunrise Manor. It’s a good feeling to see them get well, especially when they get to go home!”

There is many staff that has devoted 10 plus years promoting the resident’s health while making Sunrise Manor a safe and comfortable home for them. “I have also seen a lot of changes over the past 30 years, but what hasn’t changed is the truly caring people who work here.”

Nursing Care

At Sunrise Manor, our services are tailored to each resident’s unique and individual needs. We offer a full spectrum of nursing services to keep residents healthy and encourage maximum independence in the activities of daily living.

Restorative nursing measures are practiced seven days per week and are aimed at making every effort to keep our residents active. We encourage our residents to achieve independence in the activities of daily living.

Therapy Services

Physical, occupational, and speech therapy is available to assist residents in regaining and restoring abilities.

Physical therapy includes treatment for injuries from falls and illnesses that respond to rehabilitation. Physical therapy works to assist patients regaining strength and balance to allow them to walk or ambulate as independently as possible. Physical therapy is also useful for pain management.

Occupational therapy focuses on improving residents’ abilities to manage daily living skills. Programs are developed individually to maximize residents’ abilities to relearn basic living skills such as eating, dressing, bathing, and toileting.

Speech therapy assists residents in overcoming problems with speech, hearing, comprehension, and swallowing. Special communication systems are often developed to ensure the resident can make his or her needs known.

When a resident reaches their therapy goal with licensed therapy our restorative therapy team continues to work with the resident to maintain independence.

Quick Steps Program

Quick Steps is a program designed to meet the needs of residents who need only short-term rehabilitation.

Program participants are typically recovering from surgery and are staying with us for a few weeks to a few months in order to receive rehabilitation. Upon admission our therapists with the resident set a goal date to return safely to their homes. Quick Steps patients may pre-register for their stay with us before their surgery.

Respite Services

When a caregiver must take time-away, whether it’s a planned vacation or due to an unforeseen crisis, Sunrise Manor can provide temporary respite care for their loved one.

Social Services

Admission to a health care facility creates a period of adjustment and change for both family and resident. Our social service staff is here to assist the resident with any needs that may arise from the time of admission, during the period of adjustment, and thereafter. Adjustment group sessions and one to one visits are provided to help with adjustment and all periods of the residents stay. At Sunrise Manor our social service staffs main goal is to enhance the quality of life residents experience during their stay with us.

Activities

A regular program of planned activities is an essential part of Sunrise Manor’s care for residents.
Many of the scheduled activities result directly from the ideas and suggestions made by our active Residents’ Council. In fact, we encourage all of our residents who are able to attend the Council meeting and get involved.

We typically offer structured activities in the morning and in the afternoon every day. Evening Bingo is a much enjoyed activity on Monday and Wednesday evenings.

Under the direction of our Activity Director, residents are given the opportunity to enjoy a full calendar of fun recreational and social activities, to name a few regular planned activities that our residents often enjoy:

* Bingo
* Games
* Arts & Crafts
* Church Services
* Daily Coffee Hour
* Current Events
* Recipe Clubs
* Men’s Club

We often have socials, parties and entertainment as well as celebration days. We welcome and strongly encourage our resident’s families to participate in daily programs and special events. Suggestions and new ideas are always welcome!

Dining

Our dietary team works hard to create plenty of menu options, catering to the preferences and special needs of our residents. We have a Licensed Dietician on staff as well as our Dietary Manager who holds monthly food satisfaction meetings with our residents. During these meetings residents are encouraged to help plan our menu’s by offering their input on menu selections. The group also selects a Meal of the Month to be enjoyed each month.

Chapel

We have a beautiful chapel where our residents are able to engage in worship services. The beautiful stained glass window always brings positive remarks from those who visit, while providing a more traditional church-like setting than you will find at most nursing care facilities.

Our Pets

We would be remiss if we did not mention that our days are made brighter by our on-site pets, “Morris” and “Little Jerry” our feline friends. They regularly make their rounds, spending time with residents and bringing a giggle to everyone who sees them sitting and staring at the fish in our two aquariums.
