Winning Wheels is one of the few care centers in the nation to combine the treatment regime typically associated with a rehabilitation hospital and the daily nursing care provided by a skilled nursing facility.

Winning Wheels is a private, non-profit, 80-bed specialized skilled nursing facility committed to restoring physically disabled, mobility challenged young adults to their fullest achievable potential. Winning Wheels specializes in serving persons with spinal cord injuries, traumatic brain injuries and other physical challenges. A Brain Injury Comprehensive Integrated Inpatient Rehabilitation Program is a CARF-accredited program of coordinated and integrated medical and rehabilitation services that is provided 24 hours per day and endorses the active participation and choice of the persons served throughout the entire program.

Treatment Planning

The Winning Wheels treatment philosophy is based on the concept that rehabilitation should be both outcome-oriented and measurable. Also, to ensure that the needs of each individual are met in a thorough, comprehensive manner, an "interdisciplinary" and "transdisciplinary" treatment team approach is utilized. Such approach emphasizes the whole individual, stressing communication and consistency among the treatment team professionals.

The treatment team assesses each individual's cognitive, psychosocial, and physical functional abilities, and combines their individual evaluations into a cohesive, comprehensive treatment plan.

Under the direction of our Medical Director, the treatment team continuously reviews each individual's progress and modifies the treatment plan accordingly. The treatment team is comprised of professionals from the following disciplines:

* Physical Therapy
* Occupational Therapy
* Recreational Therapy
* Speech Therapy
* Social Work
* Vocational Training
* Day Treatment Rehabilitation Program
* Cognitive Rehabilitation Program
* Nursing
* Nutrition Services
* Respiratory Therapy
* Pharmacy
* Psychology / Counseling
* Psychiatry
