Abbington Rehab and Nursing Center, a long term care nursing facility, welcomes you to a new beginning in health care. Abbington Rehab, a well established nursing facility since 1970, is an independently owned and operated 82-resident "family." Since 1994, the Abbington staff has been under the supervision of a new management team dedicated to providing the highest standards of personal attention and quality nursing care. The facility is licensed and approved by the Illinois Department of Public Health.
Because we are a relatively small establishment, each resident receives a high degree of individual and special attention from our caring, professional staff.
Oftentimes, members of our staff will accompany a resident on a personal outing into town.
At Abbington Rehab, our entire staff is dedicated to providing every resident with personal care to fit their special needs. Abbington Rehab, known for its comfortable, family-like atmosphere, invites you and your loved one to begin a new chapter in life; a unique combination of home-like living and hospital like nursing care.
SERVICES
To keep up with the constantly changing health care environment, Abbington Rehab has upgraded many of its facilities and improved many staff positions. We want all of our residents to feel that Abbington Rehab is their home. Our friendly staff members are available at all times for residents and their families. Everyone's door is always open to answer questions, address concerns or just chat.
To meet our residents' health and welfare needs, Abbington Rehab provides occupational as well as physical rehabilitation. Our nursing staff, on hand 24-hours a day, really make an effort to go above and beyond their normal duties. They are always available to discuss medication, treatment schedules and health issues related to your loved one. Our residents' confidence in them is a reflection of our staff's focus on personal attention and pride in their positions. That is why you will find that many of our staff members have been with the facility for years well beyond the average for the long term community.
Abbington Rehab offers a wide range of health care services—from short term rehab, respite and hospice care, to long term nursing care. An on-call house physician provides the majority of our residents with regular medical attention and is also available in an emergency situation. Of course, the residents' personal physicians are always welcome to attend to their patients at Abbington. So that our residents are healthy and happy, a social worker is available to work with residents on matters of social rehabilitation including: reality orientation, remotivation and daily living guidance.
Dining
Our goal is to prepare tasty nutritious meals that meet the residents' specific dietary requirements. Meal-time at Abbington Rehab is truly a communal affair.
In addition, we celebrate holidays and special events in our cheerful dining room complete with festivities and decorations.
Health/Hygiene
To meet our residents' need for health and well-being, we offer exercise classes, professional beauty and barber services and arrange for professional dental care. Our specialized programs may include: audiology, opthamology, optometry and podiatry.
Housekeeping
A pleasant, cheerful atmosphere is found throughout our facility. To insure that a clean, healthy environment is maintained, Abbington Rehab provides daily cleaning and laundry services.
ACTIVITIES
Abbington Rehab encourages all of its residents to share in a full range of social activities and programs. Our goal is to create a balanced atmosphere of independence and privacy within a "community" setting. We know that nothing can take the place of the resident's family. Thus, our goal is to make each resident feel like a special member within the Abbington community.
Visits from family members are encouraged and always welcome. We offer a full and diverse range of activities that family members are welcome to join. Each month a daily calendar of activities is scheduled. We try to tailor our programs to your loved one's favorites activity and are always open to new suggestions.
Social Life
Residents can meet neighbors and make new friends in the lounge, at weekly movies, birthday parties, bingo, table games and ice cream socials. For a change of scenery, our staff accompanies residents on shopping and dining outings.
Your loved one can develop one or more favorite interests by joining fellow residents at: Cooking Classes, Book Club, Hospitality Group, Card Club, Men's Club, or Arts & Crafts.
Religious Services
We are considerate and respectful of our residents' different religious faiths. You will find that Abbington accommodates all religious needs and beliefs. We offer regular services, Bible study classes and Rosary discussions.
