NEW FRIENDS BECOME OLD FRIENDS
One of the nicest things about Illinois Knights Templar Home is making new friends.
A new resident soon becomes old friends with staff members, roommates, and other residents. Some of them really are old friends, with the cordial setting of our Home encouraging renewal of friendships begun long ago. Family members who visit also make friends with other residents. Volunteers and consultants extend their friendship. Pets become instant friends and inspire friendly conversations when they visit. Children of every age are especially welcome. You'll never be lonely at our Home!
RESPITE CARE
For those home caregivers who need some time away from home and caregiving, we offer short term Respite Care for their loved ones. You can have peace of mind to know that your loved one is being cared for and all of their needs addressed.
THE ACTIVE LIFE
There are quiet times at Illinois Knights Templar Home, but never a dull moment. Residents can keep as busy as they like in a wide variety of activities for mind, body and spirit, from the very social to the very private. In the aptly-named activity room residents gather for arts and crafts, cooking, board games, scrabble, pinochle, and dominos and enjoy hot cocoa and homemade soup. Or they can enjoy popcorn and movies on the large screen TV. Sundays are special with church services in our Home and there is a bible study and the rosary during the week. We have a beauty shop and a barber shop.
In good weather, many activities take place on our beautifully landscaped grounds. A patio and a pavilion are available for social events. At all times of the year, our van takes residents to shop, eat, sightsee, visit the public library, and attend performances.
A Resident Council and Family Council allow residents and families to voice their concerns and suggestions.
SKILLED CARE
Our diversified therapy team allows the patients to receive rehabilitative care complimentary to their personal stage of recovery. Our trained team offers Occupational Therapy, Physical Therapy and Speech Therapy.
When you walk through our doors, you can feel the Brotherly Love!
CARING EMPLOYEES
Everyone who is chosen to be an employee of our Home must be highly qualified in two ways. First the person must have the proper training, certification and experience in that person's area of expertise. Second, the person must really care about employing those skills to the fullest in the service of our residents. Their care is what makes our Home a home and our family of staff and residents a true family.
DELICIOUS DINING EVERYDAY
Every day of the year, the skilled kitchen staff at Illinois Knights Templar Home gets up before daybreak and work until after dark to prepare three full meals for our residents. A delicious variety of food is served in our spacious dining room. When the weather is nice, residents can choose to take meals on our shaded patio. Whatever they choose, residents will find meals that are not only tasty, but nutritious. Each month's menu is carefully planned by a licensed dietician to be both nourishing and appealing. Once a month, a formal banquet is shared with family and friends, sponsored by different commanderies.
From time to time, residents have the opportunity to try their hand in making snacks and meals in the Activity Room, which has a fully-equipped kitchen. And those who live in townhouses have kitchens and may do their own cooking if they wish.
