About Us

Iroquois Memorial Hospital & Resident Home

In 1916, Anna Donovan donated funds to build a public hospital in Watseka, Illinois in memory of her husband, John L. Donovan. That gift created a 25-bed facility named the Iroquois Hospital. That original facility has grown into a comprehensive regional medical facility that now serves 50,000 residents in a bi-state, five-county area.

On its main campus in Watseka, and through a network of Satellite Clinics, Iroquois Memorial serves the healthcare needs of residents in east-central Illinois and west-central Indiana.

With 49 staffed beds and over 70,000 patient visits per year, Iroquois Memorial provides a full range of medical specialties, comprehensive acute care, as well as, primary care and paramedic level pre-hospital services.

Iroquois Memorial's 24-hour Emergency Department is staffed with specially trained ER Physicians, Nurses and Technicians.

As a not-for-profit organization, Iroquois Memorial depends upon community support for its growth. Despite the closure of many rural hospitals throughout the state, Iroquois Memorial continues to grow and offer many new services.

Iroquois Memorial is a valuable asset to the area's residents who genuinely value quality healthcare that's close to home.

Resident Home

The Iroquois Resident Home is a place where you and your loved one are cared for and cared about. Whether you are a resident or a concerned family member, you're important to us.

Our highly qualified staff take the time to personally get to know each resident. We respect your individual needs and personal preferences, whether you're with us for a short-term or a long-term stay.

Quality care comes from quality caring. We realize that care plans extend beyond prescribed therapies. We are proud that our staff demonstrates quality caring through their compassion, gentleness and by being good listeners and enthusiastic caregivers.

Residents enjoy many distinct advantages

Established in 1958, the Iroquois Resident Home holds the distinction of being the first nursing home in the State of Illinois to be built in conjunction with a hospital. The result is a not-for-profit facility that is affiliated with Iroquois Memorial Hospital (IMH).

Our unique relationship with IMH creates many distinct advantages for our residents. Among them are: immediate access to 24-Hr Emergency Care, routine health-care (Lab, X-ray, etc.), specialty medical care and cancer treatment all of which is available right on our campus.

Patients who are transferred to the Iroquois Resident Home directly from the Hospital setting benefit significantly from continuity of care. By having the same Physical, Occupational, and Speech Therapists follow your care, no progress or momentum is lost in your rehabilitation process. When it's time to be discharged home, these therapists are available to provide home services should you need them.

A wide variety of activities provide a stimulating, enjoyable environment for our Residents. Among them are: daily activities such as Bingo or crafts, regular church services, shopping excursions, and frequent visits to area attractions such as museums, festivals and theatre productions.

We welcome your visit to our facility. To schedule a personalized tour, please contact:
