St. Joseph's Home of Springfield has offered aging and infirm persons a special place to call home since 1903. This special ministry of love and respect for the elderly was established by the Sisters of St. Francis of the Immaculate Conception 105 years ago, and the Sisters still sponsor and administer the home today.
St. Joseph's Home offers two levels of care: Sheltered Care and Intermediate Nursing Care. The Director of Nursing interviews each prospective resident to determine the appropriate level of care.
Sheltered Care:
Able to move independently within room, to and from dining room and bathroom, etc. Able to eat, dress and take care of personal hygiene. Assistance is provided for bathing.
Intermediate Care:
Appropriate for persons who need around-the-clock nursing care and regular assistance with personal care.
St. Joseph's Home is not licensed for skilled care, and therefore cannot serve persons needing intravenous or tube-feeding services.
Caring for the whole person
It has always been the mission of the Sisters of St. Francis to care for the whole spectrum of human needs, including physical, social, emotional and spiritual. Each resident is encouraged to live as fruitfully and independently as his or her condition permits.
A loving Christian atmosphere contributes to the spirit of dignity and respect that is felt by both residents and visitors.
The Sisters live on-site, and are on-call at all times.
A home-like atmosphere
St. Joseph's Home offers two residency options: sheltered care (retirement living) and intermediate care (24-hour nursing).
* Sheltered care rooms are spacious private or semi-private rooms, most with bathrooms.
* The intermediate care facilities include semi-private rooms in the 1925 building and eleven rooms in the Round Building, a cheerful, safe and secure living area for those with dementia.
Residents are encouraged to add personal touches such as a favorite chair, lamps, pictures and television.
Buffet Dining
Three healthful meals a day with a choice of entrees are served buffet-style in newly remodeled dining rooms under supervision of a certified dietary supervisor.
Housekeeping
